Hellenic Plan for the Balkans Boosted
The Hellenic Plan for the
Economic Reconstruction of the Balkans (HPERB) prospects were presented by the Foreign
Ministry yesterday. Deputy Foreign Minister Evripidis Stylianidis cited
several projects, including the Pan-european
Corridor X
, the Sayiades-Konispol-Sarande
highway, connecting the upper northwestern tip of Greece with southwestern
Albania, and the establishment of SEElight,
a cutting-edge regional fibre optic network
connecting some 300 universities and research centres in Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of
Macedonia (FYROM).
The implementation of the HPERB is moving ahead dynamically following its
extension for another five years (2007-2011) by the Parliament. HPERB

Inflation Slows, Unemployment Down
Greek
annual inflation slowed to 2.8% in
March, from 3.0% in February, Eurostat
said on Monday, while National
Statistics Service announced that annual inflation rate slowed to
2.6% in March 2007 compared with the same month last year.
Unemployment
fell to 8.7% in January from
9.6% in
January 2006, according to National
Statistics Service attributing the fall to relevant governmental policies (Tax
Reform, investment
law, Private
Public Partnerships, and privatization).
